Swallows Day Parade 2017

posted Feb 3, 2017, 2:32 PM by JRLopez TriCitiesRACES

Had meetings with the City about Swallows Day event.  This year it is much the same with 12 locations needed to cover with a portable handheld and a Net Control to handle that traffic.  Each location will have a SJC CERT member also so our members will be supporting CERT as always in a communications role.  Our two groups provide a large number of volunteers so lets make a good showing this year and set aside the date for helping out.

March 25th is the date and there will be some preparation meetings for the MESH systems again beginning this weekend as we start to plan the Camera locations.

Orange County EOC De-Activated

posted Sep 1, 2016, 2:36 PM by JRLopez TriCitiesRACES

USFS Smoke jumpers were used yesterday, the morning marine layer helped keep the fire from spreading. Most of today was talk of a Drone that was spotted over the Holy Jim Fire that was seen near Dove Canyon also.  No social media coverage in several hours.  Thanks to all TCR members who were following this and getting ready in case of a more serious situation arising.  We will be back at Alert level 0.

HolyFire Update 9/1/16 8:00AM

posted Sep 1, 2016, 7:59 AM by JRLopez TriCitiesRACES

This morning, the #HolyFire remains at 155 acres with 20% containment and 283 crew members. Early air attack with fire retardant and water drops were pivotal in stopping the forward spread. There is still much to be done, but were optimistic for full containment soon.

Just a reminder, we have a general meeting this Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 7 pm. The meeting is at:

San Clemente Community Development Building
Conference Room A (first floor)
910 Calle Negocio
San Clemente, CA 92673

We are fortunate to have Michael Rickey (AF6FB) scheduled to present DMR 101. Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) is quickly becoming a fast growing segment of amateur radio and this is an excellent opportunity to learn about it and see a few of the radios that are currently available.
