Weather Update for SJC

Message from City of San Juan Capistrano City Manager:

Hello all, the first in a series of three storms will hit the Orange County region tomorrow afternoon. It is anticipated there will be a total of approximately 1 – 1/2” of precipitation west of the local mountains from this first storm. It is anticipated that the precipitation will continue into the late night or early morning Wednesday hours. Nearby mountains and canyons can expect as much as 3” of precipitation. There could be flooding in low lying areas due to the rain amounts and to debris flow in the river beds. The second storm of the series will hit the region Wednesday afternoon and it is anticipated that the region west of the mountains and canyons could receive approximately ½” of precipitation. The last significant storm in the series will hit the region Thursday afternoon and last into the early morning Friday hours. This storm is anticipated to drop another 1” plus of precipitation. There is also a predictions of 30 – 35 mph wind gusts during these storm event. Orange County will be activating their Emergency Operation Center (EOC) tomorrow at 8 am.

The City of San Juan Capistrano will be setting up the City’s EOC and will activate it if deemed necessary. If an activation of LART becomes necessary you will be notified with instructions. Thank you and stay safe.
